An online food ordering and delivery platform, Swiggy has been in operation since 2014. Based out of Bengaluru, it has its services in over 100 Indian cities. Standing on revenue of Rs. 875 crore, the company is India's largest and most valuable entity in its line of trade. In recent times, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, it has been in the news numerous times. Owing to a 70% drop in food order volume, Swiggy took a decision to chuck 1100 employees in May. However, it said that these laid-off workers will get at least three months of salary, irrespective of their tenure or notice period. Swiggy also forayed into alcohol delivery in Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal, along with its competitor, Zomato.
